2015-16 interns


Jess (Heslington Church, York Circuit)

Jess is working (with Chris) on student outreach activities in her church making links with the students at York University.

Jess says:  “The internship has given me a really valuable way to get involved with a church whilst I’m at uni. It’s really helped me give back to the church that has been my home now for three years.”

Chris (Heslington Church, York Circuit)

Chris is working (with Jess) on student outreach activites in his church making links with the students at York University.

Chris says: “I think my church has become more integrated and given students a greater role to play in its life”

Ruth (Toll Gavel United Church, Beverley Circuit)

Ruth is working to improve the communications and publicity at her church, producing posters and other materials for different services and events.

Ruth says:  “I have become more confident in talking to members of my church who I wouldn’t normally talk to and I have made good friends with other people from my circuit”

Anthony (Northallerton Methodist Church, Thirsk & Northallerton Circuit)

Anthony is working with the Boys Brigade to improve the links between the groups and the church.

Anthony says: “uYPS has strengthened the previous relationship between the church and the boys brigade group with my inclusion of a younger member of the church as it is easier for young people to connect with people closer to their own age group”

Rachael (Strensall Methodist Church, York Circuit)

Rachael is using her musical talents to work with the young people at Strensall to develop a children’s choir.

Rachael says: “uYPS has given me more confidence in making new friends and leading children in worship”

Rosie (Acomb Methodist Church, York Circuit)

Rosie is documenting her church’s Jubilee Project through a blog and is also developing her drumming skills to help in the worship band.

Rosie says: “Playing the drums has given more depth to the music in church and the blog will give people the chance to look back on the Jubilee project in the future”

Mitchell (Sewerby Methodist Church, Bridlington Circuit)

Mitchell has been working to develop an electronic circuit newsletter to keep all the Bridlington Circuit churches informed about each other’s activities.

Mitchell says: “uYPS has made me become more involved in my church and make new friends”

Katy (Clifton Parish Churches including Clifton Moor Church, York Circuit)

Katy is working to relaunch the youth cafe at her church that she benefitted from so much when she was younger.

Katy says: “my internship has reconnected me back with my church by giving me the opportunity to take an active role in the youth ministry”

Ellie (Trinity Church, Goole, Goole & Selby Circuit)

Ellie is working with her circuit youth leader to bring drama and other creative ideas to the young people’s groups and activities.

Ellie says: ” The uYPS weekends have all been great fun”
